SNCF Renouvelables, our solar energy subsidiary

We founded our SNCF Renouvelables subsidiary in 2023 to deploy solar power stations on SNCF-owned roofs and land. Aim: strengthen our Group’s energy self-sufficiency—we are France’s largest consumer of electricity—and France’s energy sovereignty.

  • 2030 target: install 1,000 MWp of solar power generation to meet 15-20% of our current energy needs.
  • We’ve studied 94 sites spread over 633 hectares. 21 have been confirmed and 41 new feasibility studies are under way.
  • This internal effort relies on teams from SNCF Voyageurs, SNCF Réseau, SNCF Gares & Connexions, SNCF Immobilier, R&D, and our Procurement Department.
  • External partners include the French State via its Solar Pact and other key actors, among them Enedis, SER (professional body promoting renewable energy), and UFE (professional association representing electricity sector interests).
