SNCF Renouvelables, our solar energy subsidiary

We founded our SNCF Renouvelables subsidiary in 2023 to deploy solar power stations on SNCF-owned roofs and land. Aim: strengthen our Group’s energy self-sufficiency—we are France’s largest consumer of electricity—and France’s energy sovereignty.

  • 2028 target: produce the first electrons from SNCF Renewable Energy power plants.
  • 2030 target: deliver an initial batch of photovoltaic panels with a capacity of 200 to 300 MWp1.
  • More than 2,000 hectares of SNCF land studied across the country by the end of 2025.
  • 300 hectares are undergoing environmental studies.
  • Internal mobilisation with collaborations between SNCF Voyageurs, SNCF Réseau, SNCF Gares & Connexions, SNCF Immobilier, R&D, and the Purchasing Department.
  • External partnerships, notably an agreement with the State via the Solar Pact and contacts established with Enedis, SER, UFE, etc.
