Fresh insights into French mobility

Keoscopie, Keolis’s lifestyle and mobility research unit, takes a close look at France’s real mobility trends in “20 Years of Keoscopie”—two decades of original analysis that challenges conventional thinking on transport.

Key figures that challenge conventional wisdom

Did you know that commuting accounts for only 20% of all trips? That 65% of jobs must be performed in person? Or that 100% of women have experienced harassment on public transport at least once? Since 2015, our research unit has conducted more than 100 studies to identify lifestyle trends and explore how they affect mobility. Our new book, “20 Years of Keoscopie”, brings together these and many other findings, often running counter to conventional wisdom.

  • 62%

of young people prefer alternatives to private cars

  • 17%

of passengers have had a romantic encounter on public transport

  • 86%

of rural residents in France rely on their car

Citizens are shaping tomorrow’s mobilities

People of all ages across France are already helping to shape the transport options of tomorrow. That’s especially true of those aged over 65, who are more active and mobile than ever, and are expected to account for 29% of the population by 2070. They’re opting to combine walking and public transport with new technologies. Younger people are also charting their own course: a whopping 62% prefer alternatives to private cars.

Two decades oif imagining the future of mobility

To best meet users’ needs, Keolis puts today’s lifestyle trends under the microscope to anticipate what mobility will look like tomorrow. For more than 20 years, our Keoscopie research unit has been studying and tracking how people live, how their habits vary from one area to another, and the challenges they face.
