Keolis operates Shanghai’s first automated metro line

In 2017, Shanghai Keolis won the contract for the automated metro line linking the 4 terminals of Pudong International Airport. This is the second Keolis contract in China. It expands the company’s footprint in the country and strengthens its world leadership in automated metros.

A major contract

The 20-year contract to run and maintain the Shanghai airport’s new automated metro went to Shanghai Keolis, a joint venture created in June 2014 between Shanghai Metro and Keolis. Phase 1 began in June 2019 and will last 5 years. At that point, the parties will sign a second contract overing the next 15 years of operation.

A world-scale project for a massive country

Every year, 60 to 80 million passengers transit through Pudong International Airport. The line linking the 4 terminals runs 24/7 and carries 250,000 passengers daily.
