Bosch chooses Fret SNCF to transport household appliances

Fret parent Rail Logistics Europe has partnered with the German appliance maker to advance the modal shift to rail, reducing road traffic between Poland and France by 50 trucks a week.

20 wagons a week

On 6 January 2023, the first Fret SNCF train departed Poland for France, carrying clothes dryers to a logistics centre in Tournan-en-Brie, south-east of Paris. In all, some 20 wagons make the journey between Lódz and the French facility every week—a tangible sign of our successful partnership with German appliance maker Bosch Siemens Hausgeräte.

Shared adventure

The project began with Bosch’s decision to switch from road transport to a greener shipping method for its household appliances. The specialists at Fret SNCF reviewed every possible solution, seeking other customers who might be interested in the same route and helping Bosch win subsidies for the French segment of the journey.

Subsidiary synergy

“We owe our success to an impressive group of committed people. Our customer is a powerhouse. They managed to overcome every obstacle as we set up the project, and on the operations side, the relationship between Captrain Deutschland and Fret SNCF was extremely effective,” said Gilles Cattani, head of business development at RLE.
