Station pianos—an invitation to play
We installed the first piano at Paris-Montparnasse station in 2012. Today, our #PianoEnGare programme has instruments in over 70 stations, just waiting to be played.

Public pianos in the spotlight
Though they seemed out of place just a few years ago, our station pianos are now a familiar sight for travellers. Open to all, they’ve broken barriers between age groups and social classes, transforming our stations into gathering places.

The power of music
Our station pianos have also revealed hidden talents, sparked new passions, and even inspired In Your Hands, a film by Ludovic Bernard.

Partnership with Yamaha
We’ve sourced all our instruments from Yamaha, the Japanese piano maker. Each station signs a rental contract with an authorized local distributor, which also maintains the piano.
10th anniversary gala
On 1 July 2022, our station pianos celebrated their 10th anniversary. We threw a party in France and invited a long list of artists—choruses and choirs, solo pianists, piano groups, music lovers in the SNCF workforce, station piano regulars and more. André Manoukian, sponsor of the piano programme, kicked off the festivities at Paris Montparnasse station.
