SNCF and DWS finalize Akiem sale - December 2022
GROUPE SNCF
Today, SNCF, DWS and CDPQ announced a deal under which CPDQ acquired 100% of Akiem, Europe’s top locomotive leasing company, from SNCF Group and DWS.
After a round of bidding followed by exclusive talks between the two sellers and CDPQ, the transaction was finalized in December 2022.
Akiem’s €220 million in revenues and fleet of more than 600 locomotives and 46 passenger trains make it Europe’s leading supplier of locomotive leasing and maintenance services.
A strategic divestment
SNCF Group will use proceeds from the deal to finance operations and invest in new sources of growth while paying down its debt more quickly.
The transaction also gives Akiem a long-term backer that can keep it running for years to come as a reliable commercial partner for SNCF.
