Jean-Claude Larrieu
Director, Risks, Audit, Safety and Security, SNCF Group
A graduate of École Polytechnique (1982) and École Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Paris, Jean-Claude Larrieu joined SNCF in 1984 as head of the Train Operation and Driving unit.
In 1992 he was named head of driver training for the Transport division and subsequently served as Deputy Director for Freight in Lille through 2000. He then joined the SNCF Chairman’s team, where he was tasked with creating the Operations Division. In 2003, Mr Larrieu became regional director for Nord Pas-de-Calais, including its TER operations. In 2006 he returned to Fret SNCF as head of production and services and later headed its Chemicals, Special Shipments and Wagonloads unit.
From 2010 to 2013 he served as SNCF’s Director of Operations and Processes, leaving that position to become Director of Railway Operations. When SNCF Réseau was created in 2015, he joined the new company as head of the Traffic unit, and in 2018, he became head of operations for the North-East and Normandy Region.
In March 2020, Mr Larrieu was named Chief Safety and Security Officer at SNCF Réseau. In that role he reported directly to the Chairman on integrated safety, with responsibility for safe rail operations, workplace health and safety, security, fire safety, cyber security, and natural and technological risks.
On 1 January 2022, Mr Larrieu began serving as Director, Risks, Safety and Security at SNCF Group, a position that includes membership of the Group’s executive committee.
