Tournage Train vapeur à Paris-Austerlitz

“Along Came Love”: a steam train pulls into Paris-Austerlitz station

It took four months to prepare the final scene of “Along Came Love”, which involved recreating a 1950s station platform and providing a period train.

The final scene of a period film

Katell Quillévéré’s “Along Came Love” was released in November 2023, and went on to win an award at the Angoulême Francophone Film Festival. A drama set in the years just after WW2, it features a love story between a single mother and a student, both seeking a fresh start. The final scene was filmed at Paris-Austerlitz station in a setting unchanged by the passage of time.

Rising to the challenge

We worked with the film teams to recreate a 1950s station platform and also brought in a period train. The steam engine and old carriages were provided by a friendly society of former employees and steam engine enthusiasts in Centre-Val de Loire. The fact that Paris-Austerlitz station was in mid-transformation, with extensive refurbishment ongoing for over five years, made the task even more challenging.
