Our trains and stations, perfect backdrops for the films at Cannes Film Festival
This year again, movies featuring scenes shot in our trains and stations will be shown at the 79th Cannes Film Festival, from May 12 to 23, 2026. This is a source of pride for our teams on the ground, who contributed, in their own way, to the production of these feature films.
Films shot on our premises and screened at Cannes
The Cinéma & Tournages unit provided support for the following films, which are part of the official selection at the 79th Cannes Film Festival:
In competition
- “Histoires parallèles” by Asghar Farhadi, shot at gare de Magenta and aboard a RER E
- “L’Inconnue” by Arthur Harari, shot at gare de l’Est and aboard a TER Grand Est
- “Garance” by Jeanne Herry, shot at gare de Viroflay (RER C) and gare Paris-Montparnasse and aboard a Paris-Bordeaux TGV Atlantique
Un Certain Regard
- “Quelques mots d’amour” by Rudi Rosenberg, shot at gare de Pantin (RER E) and aboard an RER E train
- “Mémoire de fille” by Judith Godrèche, shot at gare de Cergy-Préfecture (RER A) and aboard a SNCF TER Paris-Rouen
Out of competition
- “La Bataille de Gaulle : l’Âge de fer” by Antonin Baudry, shot at gare de l’Est
- “L’objet du délit” by Agnès Jaoui, shot at gare de Paris-Lyon and aboard a TGV Sud-Est Marseille–Paris
- “Si tu penses bien” by Géraldine Nakache, shot at gare de Paris-Montparnasse Vaugirard with a TER Normandie train at the platform
Helping film crews shoot scenes in our railway sets
The Cinéma & Tournages unit team works with movie production companies to think and implement custom-made solutions. For example, we:
- make trains available
- reserve spaces inside regular trains,
- organize night shoots,
- recreate railway settings…
Station and onboard staff, train drivers, operational and security teams, maintenance crews, traffic managers, safety experts, sales teams… Everyone plays a part in making these film shoots possible while maintaining remarkably safe and reliable travelling conditions.
Train and cinema: a love affair
Railways and cinema have shared a history for over 130 years. From the first images of a train pulling into a station, filmed by the Lumière brothers in La Ciotat in 1895, to today’s film shoots, our railway settings continue to inspire screenwriters and directors and to fuel the collective mind.
