INTEGRATED ANNUAL REPORT
SNCF GROUP (SINCE 2020)

Five years of transformation for SNCF Group
In 2020, SNCF, until then a public institution directly managed by the French State, changed its legal and organizational structure to become a “public transport group”. Now operating as SNCF Group, it is the world’s second-largest mobility specialist and remains State-owned. Yet it has undergone a profound transformation: in a tumultuous period shaped by an unprecedented global health crisis, and the economic and social repercussions of the war in Ukraine, it has shown remarkable resilience and strength.
Today SNCF’s core business is anchored by a diversified portfolio spanning rail, urban mobility and logistics. It operates in France, across Europe and around the globe. Critically, SNCF Group—backed by strong momentum in passenger transport, a solid financial performance, reduced CO2 emissions and revitalized labour relations—remains firmly aligned with its mission: “Working towards a dynamic, caring, sustainable society."

A sustainable French champion with global reach
In an expanding and competitive market, SNCF Group is a key player in both passenger transport and freight logistics, operating in France and worldwide. While day-to-day passenger travel remains our core activity, one-third of the Group’s €43.4 billion revenue comes from international markets:
- Freight logistics in 170 countries through GEODIS
- Mass transit on five continents with Keolis
- High-speed passenger rail in Europe through SNCF Voyageurs
As we’ve grown, we’ve shrunk our carbon footprint. In France, our greenhouse gas emissions totalled 1.4 million tonnes of CO2 in 2024, unchanged from 2023 and an 8% reduction from 2022. This puts us on track to deliver on our 50% reduction target by 2030 (from the 2015 baseline; scopes 1 and 2). In fact, we’re already almost halfway there (-101% from 2015).

The true driving force behind the figures and the talk—behind every success—is the dedication of SNCF’s employees, whom I salute.

Collective governance on a virtuous path
Since French rail reform in 2020 and the launch of a new railway pact, SNCF Group’s governance has kept us united while leading a successful transformation.
Five years on, the Group has proven its ability to generate profitable growth across all business lines. And this, in turn, has enabled it to fund record investments—nearly €11 billion in all, with over 95% in France’s rail network.
All this makes SNCF an attractive employer, and recruitment in rail operations has headed back up since 2022. Momentum was fuelled by constructive dialogue that led to some 30 company agreements with labour representatives over five years.
