Purpose of using your data
The processing carried out, as part of a trial running from 10 June to 10 August 2026, is intended to automatically anonymise all individuals appearing in CCTV footage that will be used for training SNCF security staff.
Legal Basis
The processing is based on the legitimate interests of the Rail Security Department.
Data Processed
The data processed by the video anonymisation solution consists of footage from the SNCF video surveillance system, which will be used for training purposes. The processing applies to all individuals appearing in the video, with their heads obscured by a black square and their voices anonymised, where necessary, through frequency modulation.
A systematic check of the anonymised images is carried out by a member of the innovation team, thereby ensuring that no other personal data is present in the anonymised images.
Retention Period
The only data retained are anonymised and verified images. These will be retained for a maximum of one year.
Data Recipients
The anonymised images will be used in the training of Railway Security staff.
Data Transfer Outside the EU
The data is hosted in France. It is not subject to any transfer outside the European Union.
Automated decision-making
The processing does not involve any automated decision-making.
Exercise of Rights
Within the limits and under the conditions permitted by current regulations, the rights of access, restriction and objection apply.
In this processing context:
- The right to data portability does not apply, as the legal basis for the processing is neither a contractual obligation nor the consent of the data subjects.
- The rights to rectification and erasure do not apply in the absence of residual personal data that could identify individuals.
You may exercise your rights by contacting the Data Protection Officer (DPO) of SNCF SA: [email protected]
If, after contacting us, you consider that your data rights have not been respected, you may lodge a complaint with the CNIL [in French].
