The second digital revolution

  • We’re entering a new digital era driven by the rise of generative AI.
  • Our approach has two parts: first, we’re introducing employees to the technology; second, we’re providing a secure, in-house workspace we call SNCF Group GPT, which guarantees data sovereignty.
  • Our e.SNCF Solutions teams developed this AI, which combines LLMs from companies such as OpenAI and Mistral to address a wide variety of business and energy efficiency needs.
  • It’s being used for tasks like predictive maintenance, HR, customer relations, document retrieval and accessing passenger information.
  • The system shows employees the CO2 impact of each prompt to encourage responsible usage.
  • Generative AI boosts SNCF’s performance and attractiveness, while supporting our environmental transition.

Key figures:

  • 20,000 employees already trained
  • 10 business uses approved
  • 1 secure in-house tool (SNCF Group GPT)
  • 3 LLMs used (OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral)
  • 1 interactive AI terminal at Paris-Nord station
  • 1 academic chair co-sponsored with École Polytechnique on AI and sustainable mobility
