4th Environmental Solidarity event a success

Environmental Solidarity Days (ESD), organized by the SNCF Foundation during Sustainable Development Week, are now a can’t-miss event at SNCF Group. Employees turned out in force for the 2023 edition, applying their skills to protect the environment and grow the circular economy.

Taking action for the environment

Working with young people to protect the environment is one of our core missions. With our partner non-profits, we offer all Group employees the opportunity to take part in ESD during working hours, with prior approval from their managers.

How it works

Over 3 days, volunteers contribute to a wide range of useful, concrete projects promoting biodiversity and the circular economy. Their work supports decontamination, green construction, environmental improvements, donation-sorting, upcycling and more.

Local ties

Thanks to the hard work of our regional representatives, our employees meet local people and forge close ties with communities throughout France during ESD, delivering on our commitment to create a more sustainable, more caring society.

30 non-profits, 7 regions, 240 employees

Collective action showed its power once again ithis year. During the 3-day event, 240 employees took part in 30 projects, serving partner non-profits in 7 regions.

Making a difference

A few data points show the impact of this year’s ESD:

  • 500 kg of waste was collected
  • 30 biodiversity improvements were installed
  • over 153 square meters plantings were completed

The event translated into day of work for our partner non-profits, and our employees accomplished it all with enthusiasm and good cheer.
