A full-time commitment

SNCF Foundation gives employees the opportunity to do full-time stints lasting from 6 months to 2 years as volunteers for a non-profit partner organization. A closer look.

Full-time solidarity

Since 2022, we’ve offered employees the ability to work full-time for a non-profit with the approval of their manager, doing work that makes the world a better place. Our goal is to live out SNCF’s commitment to solidarity by putting employees’ skills to good use.

  • 96%

of employees feel proud and fulfilled to be working for a principled company

  • Group employees spend

    6 to 24

months working for the partner non-profit

  • 40%

of employees who participate are making a career transition

Here’s how it works

Throughout their volunteer assignment, employees apply their professional expertise, soft skills and most importantly, their desire to serve. Working for a non-profit lets them experience a new work environment and develop new skills. In return, the non-profit enlists highly qualified SNCF employees to execute their mission.

Each assignment takes place in a detailed framework with specific needs and objectives.

Who’s eligible

Provided their unit gives them the green light, employees of every profile and area of expertise are welcome. Top candidates will have already demonstrated their commitment to non-profit work by volunteering. Flexibility and motivation are also important factors.

The breakdown of participants is currently 40% late-career professionals, 40% making a career transition, and 20% requesting a transfer.

A typical assignment

While still employed by their current unit, volunteering employees put their professional skills to work on a project for a non-profit. Once the assignment is complete, they return to SNCF.

Throughout the communities it serves, SNCF Foundation offers employees a variety of opportunities to work on meaningful, impactful, real-world projects suited to an array of profiles, expertise and positions. For those who want to make a difference and feel appreciated, this is a work assignment like no other.

Who benefits from extended volunteer assignments?

  • The partner non-profit receives skilled help to successfully execute its projects.
  • The employee gets to experience a new work environment while developing new work and life skills by meeting colleagues in a different organization.
  • SNCF Group fulfills its social mission and develops its employees’ skills.
