Our school outreach programme

For over 20 years, we’ve taught young people about rail safety, good conduct aboard trains and in stations, and the vital importance of sustainable mobility.

Railway workers, get on the board! Report from a primary school in Châlons-en-Champagne

Prevention and awareness

Every year, SNCF employees speak to students ages 9-18 to teach them about rail safety, civic responsibility and sustainable mobility in stations, aboard trains and on railway property. All presentations are free of charge.

Target audiences

We go into schools that are near railway property and in areas where unsafe or anti-social behaviour has been reported.

Our goals

Prevent accidents to people

Raise awareness of railway risk, from accidents at level crossings and trackside to electrocution and slipstreams created by passing trains.

Foster good citizenship

Reduce incivility, from misuse of alarm signals by pranksters to ticket fraud and misbehaviour aboard trains.

Promote respect for public property

Reduce vandalism, including throwing projectiles, placing objects on the tracks, scratching coach windows, slashing seats and other malicious acts.

Raise awareness of the benefits of rail transport

Promote a decarbonized, sustainable travel mode.
