Fret SNCF’s vital contribution to the Bastille Day parade
The French army and Fret SNCF, longtime partners, collaborate on both military operations and long-distance equipment transport. And every year, the partnership earns its stripes with the traditional Bastille Day parade.
All aboard for Paris
Caesar, PPLD, TRM 700/100, TRM 10000: a multitude of names, numbers and vehicles are carried up to Paris to roll proudly down the Champs-Élysées as the entire nation watches. Fret SNCF works closely with army logistics crews to load and transport the majority of the military vehicles used in the event. It takes six massive trains and several blocks of wagons to pull off an operation on this scale, with exceptional loads setting off from all across France.
It’s a serious challenge for everyone; ground crews, loading technicians and the SNCF team in charge of our army account. We have to make sure the equipment is delivered safely and the railway is secure. Which means having the technical expertise to partner with the French army so they can successfully execute what is truly a complicated manoeuvre.
