GEODIS and the fight against Covid-19
During the Covid-19 crisis, the French government chose GEODIS to import 1 billion masks from China and deliver them to 21,000 pharmacies across France. Employees at the SNCF subsidiary immediately swung into action.
1 billion masks delivered in 14 weeks
As part of the fight against the Covid-19 epidemic, the French State tasked our subsidiary GEODIS with transporting 1 billion protective masks from China to France in just 14 weeks. The first flight lifted off on 30 March 2020, carrying 8.5 million masks from Shenzhen in southeastern China to Paris-Vatry airport.

To deliver the masks, GEODIS employees organized the airlift in record time, chartering two cargo planes—specially designed for high-volume freight shipments—to make multiple flights between China and France.
We didn’t hesitate to redirect our resources and distribute medical products to every pharmacy in France.
Expanded truck fleet delivers
Even before the airlift began, in March 2020 GEODIS was tasked by the French Public Health Agency with offsetting shortages by restocking 21,000 pharmacies that supplied masks to healthcare personnel fighting Covid-19 across the country. From 16 to 18 March 2020, Geodis used its vehicle fleet and nationwide network to shore up healthcare supply chains, which were struggling to meet high demand. To protect Geodis employees and pharmacy staff, all deliveries complied with measures designed to stop the spread of the virus.
