Warning: electrical arc hazard
Every year, lives are lost or changed forever when people trespass on railway property. Meet Florine and Quentin, two young survivors who suffered serious injuries, and learn how the accidents transformed their lives.
Catenaries are the overhead wires above railway lines. Did you know that you can’t see, hear or sense the electricity in them? They may look harmless, but the danger is real. It’s present 24/7, all year round. And an electrical arc can be fatal, even from a distance. That’s why entering railway property is strictly forbidden and why trespassing is so dangerous.
Tragically, every year, over 20 people die on our railway properties because they ignored that warning sign.
Survivor stories to make you think twice
Both Quentin and Florine were struck by electrical arcs in 2017 and 2018, respectively, as they climbed onto freight train roofs to take photos. They tell us what happened and how their lives—and their families’ lives—were transformed. Theirs are powerful messages everyone should heed.
