Another step towards high-speed services in Italy

On 6 March 2026, Italy’s Competition and Market Authority (AGCM) approved commitments from infrastructure manager RFI and confirmed the allocation of train paths on its domestic network to SNCF Voyages Italia.

Guaranteeing fair access to Italy’s domestic high-speed rail market

This decision guarantees daily train paths for SNCF Voyageurs Italia, a subsidiary of SNCF Voyageurs, ahead of the launch of its Italian high-speed services in autumn 2027.

A vital prerequisite

This approval was essential for SNCF Voyages Italia to launch its investment plan and develop new high-speed domestic services. Our subsidiary plans to deploy 15 new-generation TGVs in Italy and operate 13 daily return services on the Turin–Naples and Turin–Venice lines.

  • We are targeting Italy

    13

daily return services operated by SNCF Voyages Italia from September 2027

  • 4,000

    new direct and indirect jobs1

  • Over

    7 million

    passengers carried since 2011

More guarantees expected

Although AGCM’s decision is a step in the right direction, SNCF Voyages Italia will not be able to roll out its full operating plan until the Italian network manager guarantees access to additional rail paths – a decision we expect soon. We also need assured access to maintenance facilities in Italy and authorization for our trains to operate.
