SNCF’s commitment to LGBT+ people
On 16 May 2023, SNCF Group signed the charter of L’Autre Cercle—a new milestone in our long campaign to include LGBT+ people and fight discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.
Every employee should be able to thrive at SNCF Group, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity. That’s why we signed the Commitment Charter of the non-profit L’Autre Cercle (The Other Circle) on 16 May 2023. This charter harnesses the power of employers—including SNCF—to create inclusive working environments for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT+) people.

our Group has been committed to combating LGBT-phobia
Including LGBT+ issues
The French non-profit L’Autre Cercle has supported LGBT+ workers and employers since 1997. The charter was drafted in 2013 to address LGBT+ issues in promotion and diversity policies, and help signatory employers prevent discrimination.
4 big commitments
In signing the charter, SNCF Group has committed to:
- create an inclusive environment for LGBT+ employees
- ensure equal rights and equal treatment for all employees, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity
- support employees who are the victims of discriminatory speech or actions
- measure our progress and share best practices to improve all working environments
Fighting discrimination for over a decade
For more than 10 years, we’ve fought against all forms of LGBT-phobia and discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity. As SNCF Chairman Jean-Pierre Farandou reminds us, “We adopted a prevention plan that applies to every company in SNCF Group. It focuses on 3 main aims: fighting exclusion of and discrimination against LGBT+ employees, raising awareness on a massive scale, and creating an inclusive workplace that makes life better for LGBT+ employees.”
« Gare! », the Group's LGBT+ association
In addition, since 2013, the SNCF has had a partnership agreement with ‘Gare!’, the association for Lesbian, Gay, Bi and Trans people in our Group, for awareness-raising, information and support initiatives for employees. Our parenting guide has also been adapted to include same-sex parent families, so that we can better respond to requests for support and information from our LGBT+ employees.
