Autonomous mobile robots to help operators

GEODIS has rolled out LocusOne robots in its logistics campus in Douvrin. In over 20 weeks, these autonomous mobile robots picked 1 million units, improving operational efficiency and working conditions for operators.

Improving operational efficiency with technology…

Equipped with crates and bins, they pick up and restock small parts… For the past 20 weeks, 43 LocusOne autonomous mobile robots have been roaming GEODIS’ logistics campus in Douvrin, Pas-de-Calais. These robots, used for order picking and restocking operations, are perfectly suited to carry out logistical tasks in the retail sector. At Douvrin, they are put in charge of e-commerce activities for one of GEODIS's customers in the cosmetics industry. Over a million units have already been picked thanks to these autonomous mobile robots. This symbolic figure showcases the significant impact of Locus technology in terms of operational efficiency. LocusOne robots have already been rolled out by GEODIS in 10 warehouses in the United States and in Europe.

… as well as working conditions

Automation made by LocusOne offers a great number of benefits, not the least of which is a significant reduction in the operators movements. In line with the Group's CSR priorities, working conditions have also been significantly improved as a result. Operators no longer have to manoeuvre the trolleys manually, and order-picking instructions are clearly displayed on Locus robots’ screens. What's more, using these robots makes it easier to integrate and train new operators, as day-to-day work is consequently less constraining.
