Electric trucks dedicated to low-carbon urban logistics
A trial phase for the ‘Oxygen’ electric urban truck has started in Paris and Lyon and will last until the end of the year. Its aim is to confirm the effectiveness of this new solution, developed with Renault Trucks, as urban logistics are rapidly growing.
An intelligent electric truck
GEODIS, our company specialized in transport and logistics, is contributing to the development of solutions for urban environments through its ongoing partnership with Renault Trucks set up in 2022. Its goal is to develop ‘Oxygen’, an electric urban truck featuring the latest technologies, including integrated screens, a connected driver station and artificial intelligence in order to improve the safety of drivers and city centre users, while meeting the demands of freight transport and addressing environmental challenges.

A test phase in Paris and Lyon
The test phase began on 9 September in Lyon city centre and will run until 4 October, before moving on to the capital from 21 October to 22 November. It consists in using this vehicle, developed specifically for downtown deliveries, in real-life conditions so as to assess its success and advantages. This trial will be followed by a phase during which the vehicle's on-board services will be analyzed, taking into account feedback from drivers (comfort of use, convenience, recharging, etc.) and fleet managers.
Developing fitting low-carbon solutions
The development of this urban electric truck project forms part of a broader, ambitious decarbonization strategy undertaken by GEODIS. The Group has been committed for a long time to working alongside its customers and partners to measure and reduce its impact on customers. It has now completed updating its commitments in line with the Science Based Targets (SBT)1 approach covering its scope 1, 2 and 32 emissions. In this context, GEODIS will be capable of using low-carbon solutions for deliveries in 100 French conurbations by the end of 2024. The Group currently operates a fleet of over 100 electric vehicles.
A long-term partnership
Renault Trucks and GEODIS have for many years been pooling their industrial, logistics and engineering know-how to design this electric truck for urban logistics. A partnership was formally set up in 2022, paving the way for the production of this 16-tonne vehicle.
