Childcare at Paris region stations
To make life easier for parents in the outer suburbs of Paris, SNCF Gares & Connexions and transport authority Île-de-France Mobilités have added childcare centres to local stations. The initiative is part of our joint Stations of Tomorrow and Micro-Care programmes.
Focusing on families
Since 2022, parents in the Paris suburb of Seine-et-Marne have been able to drop their child off at Couilly Saint-Germain Quincy station before they hop on their train to work, thanks to a new daycare centre for a dozen children in the passenger terminal. Spearheaded by 2 child minders, the €860,000 project was funded entirely by Île-de-France Mobilités under the Stations of Tomorrow programme.
Serving the outer suburbs of Paris
The centre at Couilly Saint-Germain Quincy station is not the first. In the past few years, daycare options have opened in Argenteuil, Bondy, Villiers-Neauphle-Pontchartrain and Dammartin-Juilly-Saint-Mard.
Looking to the future
The Stations of Tomorrow programme aims to revitalize some 100 commuter stations that serve up to 1,500 passengers a day, by filling unused space with local services that benefit everyone.
Small but mighty
The Micro-Care programme, funded 75% by Île-de-France Mobilités and 25% by SNCF Gares & Connexions, plans to open around 10 daycare centres throughout the Paris suburbs by 2024.
