Leveraging combined transport to expand rail freight
The future multimodal hub at Fleury-les-Aubrais, just north of Orléans, will significantly boost rail freight operations in the region with its combined transport solutions. Due to launch in 2026, the hub is the fruit of collaboration between the State, SNCF and the French regions of Centre-Val de Loire and Normandy (northwestern France). Their aim? Operate a daily freight train between Orléans and Le Havre carrying the equivalent of 150 lorry-loads.

Bringing data processing directly to businesses with a local data centre
Through SNCF Réseau’s subsidiary, Terralpha, we leverage the fibre optic network installed along our railway lines to deliver high-speed data transport solutions to companies and public sector entities. With full ownership of the land along railway corridors, Terralpha ensures unmatched resilience, security and sovereignty, for coverage across France. A prime example is Saint-Pierre-des-Corps,just east of Tours, where Terralpha has built a 1,500 sq. m. data centre. This facility enables it to develop edge computing1 solutions, bringing data processing to its business customers’ doorstep.
Actively enhancing quality of life in the region

“Lire et Dire”, a non-profit that fights illiteracy and digital illiteracy, and teaches French as a foreign language, occupies 97 sq. m. of repurposed space at Chinon station, southwest of Tours. Services on offer at the station include French lessons (beginner basics and French as a foreign language), computing and maths classes, highway code courses, preparation for civil service entrance exams, cultural outings, and more.
