15 additional TGV M trainsets ordered from Alstom

Under this new €600 million contract, SNCF has ordered 15 new fifth-generation TGV M trainsets from French manufacturer Alstom. The trains will operate on cross-border services between France and Belgium starting in 2029, adding to the 115 units already purchased.

With the new TGV M model scheduled to enter service in 2026, SNCF Voyageurs has confirmed an additional order of 15 trainsets from Alstom, representing a total investment of €600 million. These next-generation units will strengthen services linking major French cities with Brussels.

The order reflects SNCF Voyageurs’ ambition to expand its international service while enhancing the passenger experience through improved comfort, connectivity and accessibility.

160 trainsets ordered from Alstom

This latest purchase represents the 4th optional tranche of the Avelia Horizon contract signed by SNCF Voyageurs and Alstom. That agreement now covers 115 trainsets ordered by SNCF Voyageurs (100 for France and 15 for service in Italy) and 30 trainsets ordered by Eurostar, plus options for 20 additional units, bringing the total to 160 trainsets.
