Our goal is to attract, develop and retain a pool of suppliers that create value.
Supplier relationships are a key component of all our procurement policies. In 2022, we acquired goods and services worth €13 billion from French suppliers. All of these purchases contribute to our rail and mobility operations, powering a flagship industry in the process.
Building constructive, lasting supplier relationships takes shared values and goals. For coming years, we aim to extend the Responsible Supplier designation to the entire SNCF Group, including subsidiaries.
Our 4-pronged strategy
Our Group Procurement Department’s strategy has four pillars, each consistent with our “Tous SNCF” corporate strategy.
Safety and risk management
Safety is one of our core procurement priorities. It’s why the Group Procurement Department vets the quality, reliability and safety of each and every Group supplier. Our commitment? We listen to and work with our partners.
Financial performance
Our goal is to improve our purchasing function’s financial performance over time and help lower SNCF Group’s operating costs.
To do so, we follow two simple rules:

Decarbonization and our circular procurement strategy
Since external purchases generate the vast majority of SNCF’s greenhouse gas emissions, they must be factored into our decarbonization strategy.
