About the SNCF Foundation
For 25 years, the SNCF Foundation has partnered with non-profits to help the vulnerable.
Mission: helping young people
2021-2025: A new mission
In 2020, the Covid pandemic showed how far-reaching our work is, and how vital it is for our employees to partner with non-profits. For the 5-year period 2021-2025, we’ve focused our mission on young people.
Two focus areas
Our annual budget of €4.5 million has 2 priorities: young people who need support to build their lives in the workplace and their communities, and young people with ideas for local environmental projects. Keeping employees engaged through our skills-sharing programme is another vital area of our work.

Ethics and compliance at the SNCF Foundation
We serve the public interest, strengthening the social fabric and building caring communities. The work we do and the projects we support are tied closely to our values—respect, engagement and integrity.
Why we chose them
These focus areas respond to critical social challenges and are in keeping with SNCF’s public service mission and its values of engagement, efficiency and openness.

Building a life
We help young people build their futures with confidence and become responsible citizens and architects of their own lives. How? By supporting education, and by helping them focus their skills on projects that will benefit communities and civic life.

Working for the environment
We support young people who want to work for the environment, backing practical local projects that will revitalize their communities over the long term.
Our innovative approach
Local ties
We’re committed to meeting real needs in real communities, so we rely on a network of 15 regional representatives who know the issues and the players on the ground. We rely on them to forge partnerships with non-profits and track our projects.
At community level, we work with our non-profit partners to serve the public interest, offering advice, evaluating projects, identifying strong non-profit partners, and providing legal and tax support.
Employee engagement
We support our partner non-profits by offering them the skills of our workforce. Several thousand SNCF Group employees are already doing useful work for the common good during or outside their working hours.
Above all, our skills-sharing programme is about the experience of building community and forging bonds between people. It’s also a source of pride and motivation for the SNCF volunteers who take part.
The Foundation around the world
Just as SNCF Group does business worldwide, the Foundation can fund and co-create projects that benefit young people and the environment in communities around the world, working with local employees and the non-profit network.
